Snowshoeing Holidays

Listen to the satisfying crunch of snow beneath your feet as you trek through the pristine winter wildernesses under deep blue skies and sunshine! Snowshoeing has to be one of the best ways to explore the mountains in winter.

Anyone can do it and as all our holidays are tailor made to suit you we can make the walks as demanding or easy as you like. Have a look at our snowshoeing page to find out more about it.

All the guides we use are qualified accompagnateurs en montagne or UIAGM high mountain guides (depending on level of route) and will make your safety and enjoyment their top priority.

There are hundreds of beautiful snowshoe walks to choose from and our guides will choose the most suitable one for the conditions of the day and you. You can walk through forests, over frozen lakes, across open snow meadows, up to a summit, over a col or along the valley floor with the mountains in all their winter glory towering over you. You can even go out for an evening snowshoe in the moonlight.

All our snowshoeing holidays include:

• 4 nights (for long weekend breaks) or 7 nights accommodation with a choice of bed and breakfast, self catering, half board or full board accommodation.

• Guided snowshoeing - for a weeks holiday this is usually 4 half days and 2 full days guided snowshoeing and for the long weekend it is usually 2 half days and 1 full day. (see individual holiday offers for detail)

Transport and Getting Here

We highly recommend you self drive rather than let us drive you to and from the snowshoe walks for this holiday as the area has so much to offer and for you to explore in your free time.

However, if you would like a quote for a transport included holiday, please just let us know when you make your enquiry. For large groups of 6 or more people it can work out more cost effective and practical for us to arrange your transport so it is worth asking. When you arrive at your accommodation we will meet you to explain the week and give you maps and directions for getting to the guided snowshoe walks as well as suggestions of self guided snowshoe walks and things to do in your free time. They are all easy to find so don't worry about getting lost!

8 day Snowshoeing itinerary

Explore the winter wildernesses of the Champsaur and Valgaudemar valleys in the Southern French Alps. Situated on the edge of the Ecrins National Park this hardly visited region is a rare winter paradise for walkers and snowshoers.

Have a look at this example itinerary for a taste of what the area has on offer. In reality we would adapt the itinerary when you are here to make the most of the conditions of the day, but this will give you a good idea of what to expect.

5 Day Snowshoeing Itinerary

Need a quick getaway for some fresh air, sun and exercise in the snow?

Take a long weekend and spend it exploring the winter alpine wildernesses of the Southern French Alps on snow shoes!

Listen to the crunch of fresh snow beneath your feet as you trek through pristine snow fields, under snow laden trees, over mountain cols and along valley floors... marvel at frozen waterfalls and streams and spot the ibex and chamois as they frollick in the snow.

Cecile's farm - Snowshoeing

Cecile and Eric have lovingly restored this old farm house into a beautiful place to stay. It's a big house with four bedrooms and a large open plan kitchen diner with an archway through to the living room with an open fire.

Chalets du Tourond - Snowshoeing

The Chalets du Tourond are newly built apartments situated in the ski village of Chaillol. There are a range of apartment sizes all furnished in a chalet style with excellent facilities.

La Ferme D'Emile - Snowshoeing

The Ferme D'Emile is an old traditional Champsaurain farmhouse that has been lovingly restored by Dominique and Jean-Marie. It is situated in the tiny village of Les Forestons overlooking the Champsaur valley.

Gite L'Aventure - Snowshoeing

From 341€ per person for a long weekend or five day guided snowshoeing holiday with a choice of full or half board and different 'getting here' transport options.

The Gite L'Aventure is a superb dormitory style gite with a large communal dining area with open fire, a games room and private garden. It sleeps up to 40 people in various sized dormitories from 4 - 8 people. Minimum group size of 12 per booking.
