Accommodation - Gites
For good quality low budget accommodation Gites are perfect. If you like youth hostelling in the UK, you will love staying in Gites in France.They are a bit like youth hostels in that you stay in dormitory style accommodation and can be either self catering or catered for. Some of the gites have double and family rooms as well as larger dormitories and it is possible to book them for yourselves.
They all have communal rooms for meetings, socialising and eating so are great places to meet people.
The standards vary quite considerably so we have only chosen the ones we would like to stay in to put on our site.

You can be self catering or Monsieur Ferero will cook you up a great dinner. In the building there is a vaulted games room where you can have discos, parties or play indoor table tennis and there are giant chess boards and connect four outside . The lounge and the dining room have musical instruments hanging from the walls which are there to be played. There's a wonderfull big fireplace complete with soup pan for those warm winter broths cooked on an open fire.
If you want reasonably priced accommodation, a great atmosphere and you don't mind sleeping in a dormitory this is the place for you.
It is situated in the village of Pisancon, near St Bonnet. It's a beautiful village with great access to all activities and it also hosts the valleys only organic restaurant - a very good one at that!

L'Epilobe
L'Epilobe
There are two self catering apartments sleeping 5 or 6 people and both apartments have rooms with double beds as well as bunk beds. Both apartments have their own fully equipped kitchen and bathroom and there's a washing machine you can use as well.
There's a great communal dining room with a big fireplace for those cold winter nights, and a terrace outside for hot summer evenings.
Marie and Michel also do delicious evening meals and breakfast if you don't want to cook for yourself. They cook with wild plants from the mountains and local produce.

Gite D'Etape Les Paris
Gite D'Etape Les Paris
It's set in beautiful countryside at the beginning of the Valgaudemar valley and is a popular starting point for the Tour du Vieux Chaillol long distance walk.
It is dormitory style accommodation with a beautiful vaulted dining and lounge area. There's also a double room you can book if want a bit of privacy!
There's a kitchen you can use or you can indulge in Denis's home cooking and go full or half board!
