Activities - Climbing
Rock climbing in the Alps is an activity you won't forget in a hurry. Warm rock, beautiful scenery, sunshine and a magnificent choice of routes - you could spend years here and never be bored!
Unlike the UK where climbers need to put in their own protection, climbing in the Alps is all bolted (except for high mountain routes)!
Just in the Chamsaur and Valgaudemar valleys there are a range of great climbing spots.
For experienced climbers there is the world renowned Céüse which some people regard as the best crag in Europe. If you like the feeling of freedom at higher altitudes and a spectacular view you won't be disappointed at Ceuse. Situated at 1600 metres with almost 350 routes graded from 5a to 9a+, the majority between 6b to 7c, you will meet climbers from all over the world.
For less experienced climbers, groups and beginners there are the crags at Pont du Fossé with almost 100 routes graded 3a to 7b. A veritable sun trap with easy access and great views, another perfect climbing spot to learn the ropes!
Slightly more challenging is the Rouanne Haute, a small but very beautiful crag in a pre-Alp scenery.
We can organise a days climbing for you as part of a
multi activity week, a climbing course, a day with a high mountain guide doing a large multi pitch or high mountain route or a full
mountaineering and climbing expedition on the Olan or Pic de Burre, Barre des Ecrins ...
All our guides are fully qualified UIAGM high mountain guides or brevet d'etat (like a british degree) climbing instructors.
