Most of the campsites in Champsaur and Valgaudemar are small family campsites. You won't find any of the large chain camping organisations here! The facilities they offer vary but they all have good views and friendly owners in common! Camping is also one of the most popular types of
Alps accomodation.
Camping
This 3 star campsite is a family run, small and friendly campsite situated in a pretty alpine village on a plateau surrounded by mountains and beautiful views. Caravanners and campers welcome!
It has a swimming pool, paddling pool for toddlers and a children's play area with trampoline, table tennis and climbing frames. There's a snack bar on site in the summer and they sometimes organise bbqs and other evening entertainment. The shower blocks are quite basic but modern and clean and there are washing machines and dryers available on site. Wifi and 3 amp electricity plug in are also available for a small charge. There is also a jacuzzi and sauna available to hire to campsite residents.
There are also the new
'tithome' cabin concept which are a cross between camping and mobile home living with a mobile home part with bedrooms and kitchenette and a canvas covered exterior for eating and socialising. There are no sanitary facilities so you can use the campsite ones but there is a water point outside the accommodation.
If camping isn't for you but you like the pool and situation, there are wooden chalets available as well as caravans and large mobile homes that you can hire out.
Mobile Home 17m2 - one bedroomed caravan. There is a kitchenette with hob, fridge and microwave, coffeemaker and utensils and crockery and lounge area with table and chairs and sofa. Double bedroom. Shower, wash basin and toilet. Outside is a shaded sun terrace with furniture for two and a parking space.
Mobile Home 27m2 - two bedroomed caravan with one double bedrooom and one twin. There is a kitchenette with hob, fridge and microwave, coffeemaker and utensils and crockery and lounge area with table and chairs and sofa. Shower, wash basin and toilet. Outside is a shaded sun terrace with furniture and a parking space.
Sun Chalet - 31m2 wooden chalet sleeping up to 6. Two bedrooms - one double and one twin. In the living area is a basic kitchenette with 2 ring hob, microwave and fridge, crockery and utensils, table and chairs and a sofa bed (sleeps 2). Outside is a small garden and wooden terrace with outside furniture and one parking space. Situated on the edge of the campsite you have an unobstructed view!
Wooden Chalet - more modern than the sun chalet, with newer furnishings and the added advantage of a washing machine and dishwasher! Two bedrooms - one double and one triple. In the living area you have a kitchenette with 2 ring hob, microwave and fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, crockery and utensils, table and chairs and a sofa. Outside you have a wooden terrace with outside furniture and parking space.
If you are looking for somewhere quiet and relaxed with good views and access to lots of walks and rides this is perfect.

camping La Pause
La Pause is a great campsite located in a pretty ski village surrounded by larch forest with beautiful views over the valley. It's open all year round thanks to it's 15 wooden chalets and in winter you can ski to your chalet.
In summer it is rich, green and beautiful and perfectly located for all activities. There is a high ropes course and some great walks and mountain bike rides right from your door.
The site has a pool and snack bar and children's play area and also has a bar and function room where you can find a range of entertainment in the school holidays.
The shower blocks are clean and well maintained and there are laundry facilities on site.
There is also a sauna and jacuzzi available on the premises for relaxing those muscles after a long walk in the mountains.
Tents, caravans and mobile homes are all welcome or you can hire (there is even an option to buy) a wooden chalet for the week. There are a range of chalets from all wood alpine to modern contemporary style and a variety of sizes.
Groups of up to 60 people can be catered for in the chalets or camping with advance notice.
