The French Alps has always been a popular winter destination for schools and youth groups. Our Ski Adventure Week takes place in the little known Champsaur valley, at the gateway to the Ecrins National Park. Located on the edge of two climatic regions, we have the best of both worlds - the heavy snow of the Northern Alps along with sunny climes of the south.

This unspoilt region with its spectacular scenery and a strong traditional culture, make it one of the Alps’ best kept secrets. A quiet and safe location makes it an ideal destination for students and teachers alike who wish to discover their adventurous side whilst enjoying the natural beauty of this Alpine region.

With one of the highest concentrations of ‘Centre de Vacances’ (outdoor education centres) in the Alps; the Champsaur valley is already an established destination for schools across France and Belgium. Children come here all year round on skiing, summer activity and educational trips to discover new sports and activities, the mountain environment and themselves.

Your Alpine Ski Week

The week’s programme incorporates 6 days of skiing/snowboarding and tuition in this stunning Alpine region of the Hautes-Alpes. We take account of the quality of the ski school, the type of skiing available for the group and understand what is required for a safe well organised ski trip. All our guides are fully qualified in their field, professional and have a wealth of experience in working with school and college groups.

This trip offers students the chance to experience French Alpine skiing as it used to be. Away from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts such as Courchevel and Alpe d'Huez, the charming ski villages that characterise this region are smaller, quieter and safer and retain the true French traditions of this Alpine region. These villages are perfect for beginner-intermediate skiers and a great choice for schools and groups.

There are 5 ski villages that you are able to choose from for your ski trip and your ski pass is valid for all of them. It is therefore up to you as to whether you choose to ski in one village for the whole week or if you would like to explore the variety of mountain terrain that the valley has to offer Just let us know and we will take care of the transport and ski school for you.

We pride ourselves both on the quality of our trips and the personal service we provide. From initial contact with us you are allocated a dedicated Undiscovered Alps team member, who is on hand to help before, during and after your trip. This can range from assistance with providing tools that could assist you in how to complete your individual risk assessments, or things you should be aware of when taking a school group overseas to organising a disco or quiz night or finding a restaurant that caters for vegetarians which is easier said than done here!

Our in-depth knowledge of the area, coupled with our close contact with local activity and accommodation providers means we are able to provide an opportunity for English schools and colleges to experience a challenging activity week in a true alpine environment in safety.
