Accommodation
There is a full range of accommodation in the valley, from self catering apartments and chalets through to rooms in ancient french chateaux.
We know it's important that your stay is as comfortable as it can be so we only choose accommodation that is of a good standard and where we know the hosts will look after you.
When you make your
multi activity holiday booking you can choose which accommodation you would prefer and we'll check it's availability for you.

If you like meeting local people and want a more personable experience, then the small friendly bed and breakfasts in the valley are really good value for money.
Unlike British B&Bs, the French 'chambre d'hotes' generally have a comfortable lounge (often with a log fire or wood burner) and dining area for you to relax in with your friends so you're not confined to your room.
And most of them offer an evening meal as well. These are often a set menu of four courses with wine.
There are many more to choose from in the valleys but these are our favourites. We also offer other ranges of
accomodation in the French Alps.
The great thing about Champsaur and Valgaudemar is that there aren't loads of big commercial hotels obscuring the landscape. Virtually all the hotels and auberges (usually family run country hotels / houses) in the valleys are small, friendly and family run.
The quality of the decor and standard of the services varies quite a lot, so we've chosen a selection of
accomodation in the French Alps that we know won't disappoint.
There are numerous options for self catering in the valley. We have chosen our favourites to show you, but if none of these take your fancy or they are full, we can easily find alternative
accommodation in the French Alps.
And, to avoid the nightmare of there being nothing to eat in your fridge with all the shops closed when you arrive, we can get your first shop in for you. Just tell us what you want and we'll make sure it's waiting for you when you arrive. It'll cost you just €20 plus the cost of the shopping.
In the ski villages and the large ski resort of
Orcieres 1850 there are a number of newly built residences offering a range of apartment sizes and facilities.
We have chosen some of our favourite ones - chosen for the quality of their accommodation, facilities, professionalism and friendliness.
Most ski apartments are quite small so for example a 4 person apartment often only has one double or twin bedroom and the other two people have a sofa bed in the open plan living area. So if you want a bit of space or would like to avoid sleeping in the living room it is worth upgrading to a larger apartment.
We are very lucky to have one of the highest concentrations of outdoor centres and other group accommodation available to us in the Southern French Alps.
There is a wide choice of possibilities suitable for school and college groups, sporting clubs, corporate groups, stag or hen weekends and other group trips.
All group accommodation is based on either bed and breakfast, half board or full board basis and will have a minimum group size.
Some have ensuite faclities and some have communal washing and sanitary facilities.
They all have communal rooms for meetings, socialising and eating and some have private rooms for teachers (for school groups).
We have chosen a selection to show you on our site to display the range and variety on offer. However, there are other possibilities so please contact us if none of these fit your requirements and we can have a look around for you.
It is also worth having a look at our
youth hostels and gite d'etapes section as these are also good options for group accommodation and don't have a minimum group size.
For good quality low budget
French Alps accommodation Gites are perfect. If you like youth hostelling in the UK, you will love staying in Gites in France.
They are a bit like youth hostels in that you stay in dormitory style accommodation and can be either self catering or catered for. Some of the gites have double and family rooms as well as larger dormitories and it is possible to book them for yourselves.
They all have communal rooms for meetings, socialising and eating so are great places to meet people.
The standards vary quite considerably so we have only chosen the ones we would like to stay in to put on our site.
Most of the campsites in Champsaur and Valgaudemar are small family campsites. You won't find any of the large chain camping organisations here! The facilities they offer vary but they all have good views and friendly owners in common! Camping is also one of the most popular types of
Alps accomodation.
At Undiscovered Alps we understand the importance of finding the right accommodation at the right price and in the right place. With this in mind we have spent time researching and vetting the various accommodations on offer in the Champsaur and Valgaudemar valleys and have chosen our favourites. Have a look at this map to see exactly where all our accommodation is located. We have a full range of accommodation from
hotels to outdoor
camping. For more information on specific accommodation please select the relevant icon on the map and then follow the appropriate link.
